Agent Mondays: the overnight research machine

I built an agent that turns recorded research calls into structured evidence overnight. No note-taking, no post-call reconstruction.

This is the first post in Agent Mondays, a new weekly series where I share one real AI workflow I've built and use myself. How it works, why I built it, no theory.

This week: the workflow I use for market research.

Right now I'm exploring a few side projects and potential new company ideas. Each one requires real research. When you're running multiple research threads at once, the note-taking and post-call reconstruction piles up fast. The calls are the easy part.

So I built a system.

Hypotheses are the foundation of good market research. The specific things you believe to be true about the problem, the customer, or the market. You write them once, they stay fixed, and every call is designed to test them. Refuted hypotheses are often more valuable than confirmed ones.

Without a hypothesis list, you're just collecting quotes. With one, you're accumulating a position.

I record every research call. Every night, a Claude session wakes up, reads each transcript against the hypothesis list, and writes one row per claim into a spreadsheet. Not one summary per call. One row per claim. Each row contains the insight, a verbatim quote, which hypothesis it touches, and whether the call confirmed, refuted, or gave mixed signal.

Three things this unlocks:

1. You can be fully present on calls. No frantic typing, no half-listening. Just a real conversation.
2. You can run more calls. Post-call reconstruction nearly disappears.

3. You can justify any decision. Verbatim quotes, mapped to a hypothesis, from a real person, on a specific call.

I would have killed for this at Perch. Not just for market research, but for product development too. Every sales call recorded, every product relevant quote automatically surfaced to the product team. No manual handoff, no lost context. Opportunities are endless. Maybe you are doing something similar?

The machine gathers. You decide.
